AGFS partners with Sharaf DG in 15,500 light bulb replacement project at DXB Airport

AGFS partnered with Sharaf DG to replace 15,500 conventional light bulbs with energy-efficient LED light bulbs in 2019. Set for completion in 2020, the project was sent in disarray with the effects of the global pandemic. A contingency plan was designed to execute the project with available reduced manpower and ensuring no operational impact on DXB Airport facilities, and we are delighted with its success.

This achievement is all the more spectacular if we consider the COVID-19 lockdown. The pandemic and our stringent preventive measures made the execution increasingly demanding.

The project is 70% complete and estimated to reach 80% completion by 2020 end.

The following milestones were achieved over the last few months.

  • More than 85,000 manhours completed with zero LTI
  • Terminal 2 Indoor lights: 5,300 out of 7,883 light replacement complete.
  • Outdoor lights: 1,914 out of 4,431 light replacement complete.

  • This project is estimated to reduce Dubai Airport’s energy consumption by 5% – equivalent to offsetting CO2 emissions over 1,000 tonnes per year. AGFS is proud to play a critical role in this project, enabling DXB airport to take a giant step towards aligning with UAE’s Energy Strategy 2050.
